Clear mind at Japanese Buddhism temple

The gate of the Buddhist temple

Day off today .. I visited one of old temples around this area , where I have lived.

Due to too much stress and too many thoughts in my mind, simply I wanted to make myself calm and ease.

One of the temples, it has very special big Buddhist rosary. You pull down the rope very slowly then one of the wooden ball falls. Try to fall 8 balls but not more than 8. You need concentration and clear mind, otherwise you will fall more than 8. More than 8 balls indicates there are destructing  thoughts in your mind.

Pray and pull the rope to check your mind status

There is a stone washbasin. You can see the words ..” 吾 唯 足 知 ”  the part of 口 is the centre of the basin. 吾唯足知 means ” Be happy and thank the presence you are given now, and don’t complain. Try to make progress and do your best ”

I feel better and ease.

As people know, Kyoto is famous for old temples but this is NOT in Kyoto. Without going to Kyoto, there are many historical old temples all over Japan.

  1. I love that part about “Be happy and thank the presence you are given now, and don’t complain. Try to make progress and do your best”. I believe in living in the moment and making the best of it too.
